Bordeaux, France | Map It
Oliver's Grade - B
Pros | They had tiny ramps and big ramps so you could practice. Tons of pinball machines and tram inside. You could rent a skateboard. It's a big bowl and when we go back to it, I'll go up it and down it.
Cons | It wasn't as smooth.
Dad's Review | Le Hangar Darwin in Bordeaux is incredible. At 28,000 sq ft, it's packed with different ramps, transitions, and a giant bowl. It's a great place for learning because they had every size half pipe (3', 4', 6', 12') along with entry level quarter pipes. On a rainy day, it can get pretty crowded but everyone seems to follow skate etiquette. It can also get pretty steamy on summer days so make sure you drink lots of fluids. With entry only $10/visit or you can sign up for a year pass for only $80 (for kids), it's an amazing deal. One of the downsides is if you're not skating, it's hard to watch your kid because non-skaters aren't allowed outside viewing areas.
Le Hangar is inside the Darwin Ecosystem which has bars, a boulangerie, boutique shops, restaurants, and lots of hangout space. It's also right next to a huge green space & river walk to explore and play in. A definite stop to add on your European skate adventure.
